Bristol SU wins a Diversity Award at the NUS Awards 2017 for the commitment of its students and staff to creating a culture that celebrates diversity in the University.
Bristol SU led a student consultation to feed into the University’s development of the Bristol Futures initiative, ensuring that the open online courses offered were designed with the academic and personal development of students in mind.
Bristol SU teamed up with the Bright Network to organise a week of workshops, panels and networking events with a focus on building up the skills, opportunities and connections to support people from disadvantaged or marginalised communities in finding employment. We are working with the Careers Service to deliver a similar event this year, making it sustainable and ensuring it keeps happening year on year.
Bristol SU lobbied the University for more affordable accommodation for all students resulting in accommodation bursaries of £1,000 per annum available to students if they are living in University allocated buildings.
Following a successful pilot, funding to support the initiative increased to support more students to afford their housing.
Work continues to make the bursary more accessible to students, and to contact student pro-actively if they are eligible.
Bristol SU and the Centre for Sport, Exercise and Health worked together to create a new pricing model for sport.
This offers students a reduced price and the opportunity to pay monthly making sport at Bristol more accessible than ever.
